What Montgomery movers say about fees
One Montgomery-area mover's published FAQ describes 15-minute billing increments. It says stairs, parking limits and missing access approvals can increase billable time. Its policy makes truck access worth discussing before moving day.
Another Montgomery-area mover's published FAQ describes included travel within its 30-mile service area and hourly travel elsewhere in Alabama. It also publishes separate heavy-item and stair conditions. Ask which rule applies to both of your addresses, rather than assuming all “local” moves have the same travel charge.
These are examples from providers' own pages, not a survey of every mover or a guarantee of current terms. We have not independently verified their licensing, service quality or availability. Get the terms for your move in writing.
Bring every estimate onto the same basis
| Line item | Confirm before comparing |
|---|---|
| Crew and truck | How many movers? What truck capacity? Is this transport or loading labor only? |
| Time | Minimum hours, billing increment, and when the clock starts and stops. |
| Travel and access | Travel/fuel charge, stairs, elevator wait, long carry and extra stops. |
| Protection and extras | Packing, materials, assembly, special items and damage/valuation terms. |
| Changes | Deposit, cancellation, date changes, and what happens if the estimate is exceeded. |
Try your own quoted rates
This is a comparison worksheet, not a market-price estimator. Choose hours, then type the exact rates supplied by movers. Leave other charges blank if there are none. Hour choices are shortcuts, not estimates of how long your move will take. Use the same work hours for both only if the crews and scope are comparable.

Formula: hourly rate × the greater of your expected hours or the minimum, plus other charges. It does not round up billing increments or predict delays. Include applicable travel and taxes in the charges you enter. Flat-price estimates should be compared separately.
The cheapest number may cover less
Compare responsibilities alongside price. A labor-only crew may not bring a truck or cover transport. A smaller crew may take longer. Clarify what protection is offered and how damage concerns are handled; “insured” by itself does not explain your coverage.
